Ben designs music, makes it sound in cooporation with musicians, using guitars, keys and technology, works in a studio, theater, rehearsal room, classroom or on stage, and writes lyrics.
Educated in Music Technology, I graduated in 2007 with specialization Composition. Shortly after I co-founded Compost, a collective for multidisciplinary, music based productions. Our first show was 'Chanson Noir', a fusion of songs, string quartet music and Film Noir elements. With the combination of composition and guitar I have worked with the art collective 5eKwartier, theater groups Sonja and Ponies, and the Codarts academy for music theater. As a guitarist I work with singer/songwriters Daan Hofman. I am a teacher of composition at De Kunstlinie in Almere.
In my music I aim for a balance between recognition and surprise: cliches, samples and quotes are common, but are always put in a new context.
